Getting There

Check in first at the Tippecanoe building inside South Rolly Campground to pick up paddles, life jackets, and keys before heading out. South Rolly Lake is located within Nancy Lake State Recreation Area, about 90 minutes north of Anchorage along the Parks Highway. Turn onto Nancy Lake Parkway at Mile 67.3 of the Parks Highway and follow it approximately 6.5 miles to South Rolly Lake Campground.

Check in first at the Tippecanoe Alaska building inside South Rolly Campground to pick up paddles, life jackets, and keys. Parking and a self-pay station are available at the campground entrance for parking and camping fees (State Parks fees apply).

  • Paddles

  • U.S. Coast Guard–approved life jackets (all sizes)

  • Boat locks and keys (when applicable)

  • Basic local orientation and pickup instructions

You bring:

  • Valid Alaska fishing license (if fishing)

  • Weather-appropriate clothing and layers

  • Food, water, and personal items

  • Dry bags or protective storage for electronics (optional rentals available)

  • Camp store has bug spray/lures/firewood!

Cabins & Camping

Cabins

South Rolly Lake has no public-use cabins. Other Nancy Lake lakes offer State Parks cabins—book separately through ReserveAmerica

Camping

South Rolly Campground has 98 campsites with cleared tent pads and fire rings. Campsites are first-come, first-served and do not require reservations. No potable water or hookups are available.

A self-pay station is located at the campground entrance for camping and parking fees. Campers must follow all Alaska State Parks rules and pay applicable fees.

Firewood is available for purchase through Tippecanoe + bug spray/lures at camp store.

​Safety & Conditions

This is a self-guided outdoor experience in a natural Alaskan setting. Weather can change quickly, and cell service may be limited or unavailable. Always check the forecast, plan conservatively, and paddle within your comfort level. Wear a life jacket; they save lives. Alaska law: 1 USCG-approved PFD per person on the boat. Kids 13 & under MUST wear at all times on open boats/deck.
